At the beginning of August this year, the Orsk solar photovoltaic station named after Alexander Vlaznev reached its designed capacity of 40 MW and became the largest in the country. The generated “eco-watts” are quite enough to provide electricity to a city of 60,000 people.
The photovoltaic system of the station is made of more than 160 thousand solar modules made in Russia. To ensure the most efficient operation of the station, a mathematical model for the location of photovoltaic modules was developed - the optimal angle of their inclination and the step length between the rows were determined. Projects for the construction of this solar station, as well as for increasing its power, were developed by specialists from the EKRA Design Center. The construction of the solar power plant lasted about a year, during which EKRA PC specialists were constantly on site and promptly made changes and approvals to the design documentation. During the preparation of the construction site, the ash dump of Orskaya CHPP-1 was reclaimed, about 200 thousand cubic meters of earth were moved, and the soil cover was restored. The opening of the first stage of the Orskaya SES took place on the eve of Power Engineer’s Day in 2015. The installation work of the second and third stages began in November 2016 and was completed in less than six months.
